Care Plan Manager for Disabled Student (Part Time) (Cambridge)


Are you a flexible self-starting and motivated individual with the ability to help a young person make the most out of life? Abi is an independent lively and intelligent 21 year old about to begin studying English at Cambridge University. She also has a complex neurological condition and genetic disorder. Whilst she looks perfectly normal day to day living is incredibly difficult exhausting and sometimes painful for her. To help Abi to achieve her true potential she requires somebody to 1. Organise and manage life 2. Assist with day-to-day routine 3. Observe monitor health and wellbeing Skills required for the job are Administrative Handling complex application forms and finance dealing with day to day paperwork and understanding filing systems making calls booking appointments managing a diary organising payroll Life Skills Empathy understanding a condition that is difficult to see and still under investigation Practical living laundry food prep tidying shopping responding to instructions Managing transport and enabling Abi to have an active social as well as academic life Interacting with other members of Abis family and team Observational Skills Attention to Detail Ability to pre-empt and handle Abi not letting things slip if she becomes less able to cope Helping to maintain a regular routine Constantly keeping up to date with latest advances in medical and financial situation finding ways around difficult situations This is a government-funded position so you must be able to demonstrate that you have the legal right to work in the UK. Crb checks will also be required. Wages are £10 hr. Hours start at 10 per week with the potential to increase where necessary. Flexibility is essential. The job is based in Cambridge but for hospital and family visits Abi will require journeys to London. For this reason a driving licence is also essential.
